The Criminal Injuries Compensation Authority (CICA) was established to manage the criminal injuries compensation scheme in Britain. The CICA are responsible for the administering of payments of compensation to those who have suffered injuries as a result of a crime of violence in England. The CICA can award anything from £1,000.00 minimum award up to £500,000.00. In addition to compensating for the injury the CICA can also compensate for medical expenses and, where appropriate, loss of earnings suffered as a result of the injury. |

The statutory CICA scheme can pay compensation even if the offender is not identified or caught and even if the offender is not convicted of the crime which caused you to suffer personal injury. The scheme requires the crime of violence to be reported to the Police.
